In all the years of crafting they are the one medium whose creations I wouldn't dare show anyone. Whether it is flowers or backgrounds, the end results looked like some ugly geode sample from a Sci-fi planet.
"Great. I am not going to have anything for Student Gallery today." This is what I thought as the bottom drawer of the art supply cabinet creaked open. Among the selections was a set of Posh Rainbow Inks by Ranger. Do they even make those anymore?
How did these colorful liquids become my artistic arch nemesis? After a few cleansing breathes, it was time to give the Fluid Landscapes Technique a try.
Maybe the Alcohol Ink slump is over. They probably won't end up on Antique Road Show but, just in case, I am signing the backs. Happy Crafting y'all!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThese are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI think we are usually our own worst critics. I'm also finding that many times creations that i hate at first sort of start to grow on me when I leave them alone for a while. Inthink you did great creating landscapes with this new to me medium ((I'm wondering how i will fare when I tackle some of the assignments this weekend). I created a Kathy inspired crazy bird distress crayon panel yesterday that I did not like. Today, I stamped the bird again on top of my first image, added a die cut sentiment and matted my panel. And now even my husband likes the card haha. Will hopefully be posting it on my blog tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your creation. You are so right about being your own worst critic. Todays videos were very interesting to watch and so many new techniques. Yupo paper looks like it will be another "must have".
DeleteJust wanted to pop back in to let you know I've posted my landscape. After messing about and not getting it right at first, I suddenly seemed to get it to work. Let's hope this is not simply a case of beginner's luck...
DeleteYou did an awesome job, Marianne!
DeleteI think these are really pretty...I will give it ago when Yupo arrives...I hope I do as well as you!!! LUV it! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Yupo so am interest to hear what you think about it. You will do wonderfully on the Landscapes too. Thanks for your lovely comment.
DeleteThese are really good. Keep at it. No nemesis here - Friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your wonderful comment!
DeleteIt's my least favourite day too, lol. But these are really lovely, and I'm not just saying that because I'm high on AI fumes! lol. x
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! You just made my day Sammy! Thank you
DeleteU crazy! These are stunning!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Alcohol Ink Slump is over. :c ) Thank you so much for commenting.
DeleteWow! They're beautiful! I am not happy with mine and I'm not a fan of alcohol inks. But, I do love the faded background process and will most likely do that one again.
ReplyDeleteAlcohol Inks don't seem to move where I want them to go. Maybe it is a control thing. :C ) Good luck on your future attempts.
DeleteThese are beautiful! I'm way behind in this class, but I just posted an example where I also used Posh Rainbow ink instead of Metallic Mixative, and asked the same question.
ReplyDeleteI love alcohol inks, but tend to forget about them. I've been using them since the Polished Stone technique first appeared (20 years ago?), and I still have some old Tria inks I bought then.
It is good to know someone else has the same vintage alcohol inks as me. lol! They still work too. Don't think they make them anymore because the women who represented the line is no longer with them. Thank you for your lovely comments.
